The Young Naturalist Awards is a research-based science competition for students in grades seven through twelve, offered by the American Museum of Natural History. The Young Naturalist Award Scholarship Program exists to promote student participation in the science fields, and helps to recognize the accomplishments of students who have investigated questions in the subjects of biology, earth sciences, ecology, and astronomy. All student in grades seven through twelve who are currently enrolled in a public, private, or home school in the United States or it’s territories, Canada, or citizens in a U.S. sponsored school abroad, are eligible to enter and compete for a Young Naturalist Award Scholarship.
Twelve Young Naturalist Award Scholarships will be awarded, two for each grade level. The cash award amounts are as follows: 7th grade: $500, 8th grade: $750, 9th grade: $1,000, 10th grade: $1,500, 11th grade: $2,000, and 12th grade: $2,500. In addition to the cash award, the winning Young Naturalist Award entries will be published on the museum’s website. Up to 36 Young Naturalist Award finalists will receive a cash award of $50 and a certificate of recognition.
