Q: This may be a weird question but what is my school’s Financial Aid Office for, and must I utilize it in order to receive financial aid for college?
A: Your schools financial aid office and its staff exist to take care of all or most of the financial aid operations at the school or college, including helping students apply for and receive financial aid (this includes help with FAFSA). Your schools financial aid office can help students with any questions they may have regarding financial aid programs and/or the costs of attending that particular school or college. When you are visiting schools, it is always a good idea to stop in the financial aid office because they will be able to answer any questions you have regarding tuition and/or financial aid.
Typically, it is not a requirement to utilize your schools financial aid office, however chances are you will have financial aid questions at some point during the college application process and be referred to your schools financial aid office for help. Many times your schools financial aid office can even assist you for questions regarding repaying your student loans.
