The Kor Memorial Scholarship is a chance for students to get creative and win some money for school! The purpose of the Kor Memorial Scholarship is to recognize and encourage scholarship in fields of language study. “Familiarity with Klingon or other constructed languages is not required, however creative and innovative applicants are preferred” (thats what the website clearly states, no joke!).
A $500 college scholarship award will be given to an undergraduate or graduate student each year. Final determination for The Kor Memorial Scholarship is reached by a committee made up of the KLI Director and a changing selection of qualified language specialists. Formal announcement of each year’s recipient is made at the annual conference of the KLI. All Kor Memorial Scholarship nominees must be full-time students at the time of the award and in a program leading to a degree in a field of language study. Nominees must show evidence of academic accomplishment and enjoy the high regard and respect of their supervising faculty.
