Joe Foss Independence Day Scholarship Contest

The Joe Foss Independence Day Scholarship Essay Contest is giving away a $5000 college scholarship to the applicant who can best write an essay on the theme “Oh Say Can You See: What the Star Spangled Banner Means to Me.” The scholarship essays will be evaluated based on creativity, theme development, clarity of ideas, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Joe Foss Independence Day Scholarship Essay Contest applicants must be a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior in high school. Essays must be the applicants original work, must be at least 1500 words in length, and essays must include a cover sheet.
