An important reminder to all college students planning on applying for federal financial aid for the 2009-2010 school year:

June 30, 2010 is the deadline for completing the 2009-2010 FAFSA, which determines funding through the summer 2010 semester.

For those of you planning to apply for federal financial aid for the 2010-2011 school year, you have until (midnight Central Daylight time) June 30, 2011 to complete and submit your web FAFSA.

You can complete and submit your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by visiting www.fafsa.gov

These deadlines do NOT apply to your state financial aid deadlines, as state deadlines are typically much earlier than federal deadlines. To learn about your specific state’s deadlines, visit our State Financial Aid section.

Completing and submitting your FAFSA early is the key to receiving all of the federal financial aid you are eligible for. Do not skip this step in the financial aid for college process, as it is the most important step of all.
