Just as there is federal Financial Aid for College, the state of Nebraska also offers different forms of Nebraska state Financial Aid for College in the form of Nebraska specific student loans, Nebraska specific grants, Nebraska specific scholarships, and other state of Nebraska specific aid programs.Just as you must file FAFSA for federal Financial Aid for College, the state of Nebraska also requires you to file the FAFSA form for consideration of Nebraska state aid programs. Essentially by filing your FAFSA, you kill two birds with one stone. When you submit the FAFSA to the US Department of Education, they will simply forward your information on the FAFSA to the Nebraska student financial assistance agency.
It is extremely important to note that each state has a different FAFSA submission deadline, and if you miss this deadline you will NOT be eligible to receive ANY state financial aid for the entire academic year.
If you submit your FAFSA by March 1, you will be in time for all state deadlines (other than Michigan).
After filing your FAFSA by the Nebraska state deadline, you may also be required to fill out additional forms, or submit additional information, which is why it is important for you to contact the Nebraska State Higher Education Agency to make sure you have all your bases covered.
